Pulse Prayers, Week of 4.05.10

4.05.10                                    Monday

FV PULSE-There’s a peace I’ve come to know, though my heart and flesh may fail, there’s an anchor for my soul, I can say, it is well.-Tomlin

FV PULSE-May Peter’s “living hope” produce Paul’s “living sacrifice” in me. God, help me place my work in Your service today.

FV PULSE-Christian hope is neither foolish optimism nor an escape from reality. It is a choice to live in light of trusted inevitability.

4.06.10                                    Tuesday

FV PULSE-Though breakfast bars may get gulped down most mornings, may I linger with You, O God, and savor your flavor.

FV PULSE-“I’m going out to fish, said Peter-But that night they caught nothing.” May my work not be weak b/c it’s done without You.

FV PULSE-“Do you love me?” He asked. Really? 3x asked to heal 3x denied. “Then feed my sheep.” By feeding others we follow and are filled.

4.07.10                                    Wednesday

FV PULSE-Every man and woman needs to know deeply, that each is, uniquely, God’s cherished child. To know this is life.

FV PULSE-Why do you “stand here looking into the sky” rather than getting on with Christ’s mission in the world? Faith is action.

FV PULSE-Thank you for placing leadership in the church, O God. Just as with the first disciples, give today’s leaders wisdom and courage.

4.08.10                                    Thursday

FV PULSE-O Lord, you have made known to me the paths of life: you will fill me with joy in your presence.

FV PULSE-A wise man has many counselors. Help me be humble enough to learn from the wisdom of others, O Lord.

FV PULSE-“They took note that these men had been with Jesus.” Does my time spent with Jesus show? Hmm, and my lack of time?

4.09.10                                    Friday
FV PULSE-Conviction without experience makes for harshness.-Flannery O’Connor. May the harsh zeal of youth give way to gentleness.
FV PULSE-Metal detectors lead us to believe that the universe is not a safe place.  Still, I will entrust my life to your safekeeping, O God.

FV PULSE- Lord, so many of us tend to isolate ourselves, creating a cave for all kinds of darkness. Help us share our lives.

4.10.10                                    Saturday

FV PULSE- All I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all I have not             seen.-Ralph Waldo Emerson
FV PULSE- Loneliness is inner emptiness. Solitude is inner fulfillment. -Richard J. Foster

FV PULSE- Too long I’ve sought a private cure for my private sins. Help me come into the strong brotherhood of your people.

4.11.10                                    Sunday

FV PULSE-O God, I bring my doubts into worship with Thomas today. May I leave saying “My Lord and my God!”

FV PULSE-Considering all You accomplished for me and our world, Jesus, let me not follow you merely “up to a point,” but completely.

FV PULSE-Help me learn to laugh more at myself than I laugh at others, O Lord. To see the incongruity of my life makes me generous to others.
