Face it.
That’s it.
That’s the secret. Brilliant, right?
The catch is, you can’t face it alone.
For a long time, I let my fears rule my life. Insecurity over acne, body image issues, and even some good old fashioned legalism that messed with my head. Worries about what would happen if people found out about _____.
It was crippling.
When I focused on my fears, I was missing the point. I was focused on me. I was focused on the brokenness instead of the opportunity for healing. - click to tweet.
Fears are rooted in insecurity. We’re afraid that someone will find out that we aren’t enough. That we’ll get hurt. We’ll become even more fractured. That we’ll be punished in some way for our deficits.
We’ll be damned for not being able to ________.
We’ll be shunned for the way we ______.
That we’ll be rejected when people find out about ________.
These are valid concerns until you get to 1 John 4:18. That’s the part where we’re reminded that perfect love casts out fear.
You can only face your fears when you realize that they are true. Without Christ, you are nothing. - click to tweet.
Your worth can’t be found in your looks, your intelligence, or your bank account. Those things will fail. They can’t help it. They are finite things that can’t do the job of an infinite God.
Your worth comes from Christ. Christ alone.
Realizing my worth wasn’t found in myself but who I belonged to has freed me to face my fears with boldness.
Walk confidently. You are loved.
Do you agree? What are some of the fears that you have conquered?
